Tank firms covering Crawley
Three listed firms name Crawley. Peachy Services is based in the town, at Kilmarnock Farm on Charlwood Road near Gatwick. It has more than 20 years in the trade and runs its own tankers. It empties and repairs septic tanks and cesspits, services pump chambers, offers 24 hour call-outs, and installs Klargester, Marsh, Matrix and Tricel treatment plants.
Drain Detectives, a trading name of Rexaus Group, covers eight South East counties and offers tanker response in evenings and at weekends, plus surveys and drain repairs. Arun Pumps in Rustington has specialised in pumps, pumping stations and treatment plants since 1983.
Which firm for which job
For an empty and a check of the plant or pump chamber in one visit, Peachy is local. If you are not sure whether the problem is the tank or the drains, Drain Detectives can survey both. For a pump fault on its own, Arun Pumps.
Local rules and who to ask
Crawley itself is largely on mains drainage, but Ifield, Rusper, Charlwood and Copthorne have more private systems. The RH10 and RH11 postcode districts cover the town. Crawley Borough Council building control, or an approved inspector, handles approval for new or replacement systems in the borough; villages outside it fall under Horsham, Mid Sussex or Mole Valley councils. The Environment Agency general binding rules apply.
Airport, farms and commercial sites
The Gatwick area has many farms, stables and small business units on private drainage, alongside homes. Peachy and Drain Detectives both handle commercial work such as interceptors and grease traps, which helps if a farm shop or yard also needs attention.
When you book, say whether the tank serves a home, a business or both, as commercial waste can need different paperwork. Ask for the waste transfer note after the job and keep it on file.
Tell the firm which side of the M23 you are on, as access from the farms and lanes varies a lot.
